The Social Life

The Social Life

Our social lives are often the sides of us that we showcase to the world through mediums like social media, short messaging systems (texts), emails etc etc. Whether it’s getting all dressed up to meet up with friends at a fancy club or getting “wined and dined” with your significant other or celebrating the holidays with the extended family, photos always manage to surface to “show off” the lifestyle we want others to think we have- expensive, lavish, flashy… Oftentimes these are the only types of activities we engage in and are lacking in the meaningful experiences the world has to offer us. Now there are some of us who choose to not interact with others at all. The bottom line is that as Americans we are not allowing ourselves to spend time doing the proper meaningful social activities that help our overall health and well-being.

This does NOT mean that the current and trendy social activities of society are bad or wrong, it just means that they are lacking something more. Likewise, choosing to not interact with others is NOT wrong, it is actually quite healthy for us in certain amounts (more on this later). But what all of these lack are the engaging and meaningful experiences that help us bond and connect with one another on a deeper level. On the third Monday of every month I will be sharing an activity or experience to try out with your significant other, friends, family, neighbors, coworkers etc. Stay tuned for some wild, fun, exhilarating activities you can try! Post comments with pics of your experience trying the month’s activity and be sure to share the post with others to try out as well! Happy Adventuring!
